The Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre is dedicated to improving our understanding of childhood brain tumours through research and education. The Centre’s leaders are actively involved in educational programmes and have a huge range of experience in guiding national and international developments in clinical practice.

The Developing Brain in Neuro-oncology: The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Frontier - 1st & 2nd April 2008, Cambridge UK

Scientific Committee: Prof Colin Kennedy, Prof David Walker and Dr Helen Spoudeas

This will be an interactive opinion forming meeting that aims to address the following issues for Teenage and Young Adults (TYAs) with CNS tumours:

  • Explore and share experience of managing brain tumours in TYAs.
  • Identify and compare National Guidelines for Inter-agency care of this patient group.
  • Discover new information regarding the commonest TYA brain tumours and their impact upon developmental neuro-biology, neuro-endrocrinology, psychology, and vision.
  • Debate how best to engage the young person in treatment decisions and participation in clinical trials.
  • Consider new interventions to supplement anti-tumour therapy in this age group.
