Clinical trials & research development

The Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre (CBTRC) is undertaking unique national and international collaborative research to identify new treatments for childhood brain tumours. As one of 22 UK Childhood Cancer and Leukaemia Group centres (CCLG, formerly UKCCSG), the CBTRC is an active participant in clinical trials for children’s cancer. The CBTRC is currently participating in 25 open clinical trials for children’s cancer, 14 of which are for CNS tumours. The Centre’s leaders, Professor David Walker and Professor Richard Grundy, are principal members of clinical trials committees – the CCLG and the Société International d’Oncologie Pediatrique (SIOP). They have a huge range of experience in guiding national and international developments in clinical trials.
